Childhood obesity is a child health condition where excess body fat has a detrimental effect on the health and well-being of a child. The Body Mass Index (BMI), is a measure that is used to access the obesity of a child or the situation of being overweight. To start with, they should remove calories temptations in the foods they serve or promote. This can be done through a number of ways.

  • A balanced and varied diet that has minimal processed foods should be provided
  • All pastas, bread, and cereals should be whole grain
  • Avoid low nutrients and high calorie food. This include foods with a high fat content, salty food, and high-sugar foodhow much to eat

In addition, there are alternatives to children’s craving for certain food. For example, instead of potato chips, baked vegetable chips is healthier. Similarly, yoghurt and fruit parfait should replace ice cream. Furthermore, whole fruits are far much healthier in place of juice.

Childhood obesity is a serious health conditions that adversely affects adolescents and children. People talking about childhood obesity are realizing that it is time to improve on obesity prevention initiatives. The extra weight leads to serious health implications. As far as childhood obesity is concerned, prevention is better than treatment. The best intervention strategy in preventing childhood obesity is by promoting both a healthy dietary habit during nutrition for kids and increased physical activity.
